The story so far.

Let’s take a look at where we started…

 The 2018 Kings Reserve Masterplan

Kings Reserve – a community reserve of approximately 46,000m2 that:

  • Is always freely accessible for community sport, recreation, activities and events.

  • Retains over 200 mature eucalyptus trees that have taken 25-30 years to develop their current value and will continue to increase in value. No amount of money can buy back this time.

  • Supports a diverse range of sport, relaxation and recreational activities.

  • Supports local sporting club the MA Hawks and participation in organised community level sport.Make it stand out

And where are we now…

Adelaide Football Club (AFC) – Draft Master Plan (March 2023)

  • Approximately 46,000m2 of freely accessible reserve and community space consolidated down to only 19,000m2 – much of which is now located next to one of the busiest and most congested roundabouts in the west and the back fences of residential homes.

  • A public, freely accessible reserve that is currently close to 300m long is reduced to only 66.5m long.

  • 37% of existing mature tree canopy on Kings Reserve* is destroyed losing over 25 years of growth and value. Over 50 of the tallest and most beneficial trees directly lost due to the second oval alone on top of those lost in the Thebarton Oval realignment and wider precinct works.

  • Local sporting club, the MA Hawks pushed off of their home of over 20 years to make way for a second training oval for a professional elite sports club.

  • A precinct with diverse community offerings reduced to a single focus training and corporate facility for an interstate owned professional sporting organisation.

*Excluding the T2D project zones.
